Welcome

Welcome to the GeorgetownToday.com blog spot.
A great place to exchange information?? Not sure. We'll see.

On May Fifteen last, I welcomed Matt Vincent to the FriendsofLonnie Google group. This Google group is described as having, “Originally started out as a collection of supporters of Lonnie Brennan's Selectman election campaign. It has evolved [devolved] into a general free-for-all about all things Georgetown” and often things not Georgetown, but I digress.

In that welcoming e-mail, written after Matt and I had an electronic dialogue on both Georgetown Today and in the Georgetown Record about the ballot questions I asked:
Are you interested in picking up the blog dialogue?

I'm willing to do so on the FriendsofLonnie list serve and on georgetowntoday.com (if Lonnie will perform the bothersome task of posting there). I want to keep it out of the confusion of the often obnoxious free for all that appears on the georgetownrecord.com, but do welcome participation in the conversation from other voices.
Some possible topics:

Your "make community happen" theme;
how to achieve one of our areas of agreement: that of filling the position of Finance Director;
the uses for fiscal year 2008 free cash that is possibly going to include the proceeds of the auction of 66 Bradford Loop and School Bond Refunding, assuming that both the sale and the refinancing of those bonds happens before June 30, 2008;
Implications of the GASB45 audit; and,
being practical about implementation of some of the "Master Plans" recommendations.

Matt responded the next morning:

Steve
Absolutely. Count me in. I found our conversation to be very useful and I would very much like to continue our dialog.

All the best
Matt

Matt, why don't we start with you explaining what you mean by “make community happen.” May I suggest we strive for a 600 word limit per entry?

Steve

Matt, Lonnie has set up this blog for you and I and others who agree not to hide behind pseudonyms to have a dialogue, LET'S DO IT!
